What it is
A draft angle is a slight taper added to the walls of a moulded or cast part so it can release from the tool without dragging or damage. Perfectly vertical walls tend to stick.
Design impact
Typical drafts are a degree or two, more on textured surfaces. If your design has zero-draft faces, expect DFM feedback — adding draft early is free; adding it after tooling is not.
